honey garlic bbq sauce

Writer's picture: IleanaIleana

hey there foodie friends, its officially summer and barbecues are in full effect. my favorite thing about barbecues growing up was my walla’s sauce, it was sweet and tangy and full of garlic 🤤. probably where the start of my “garlic girl” journey began 😂.

here is my version of walla’s sauce. it’s sweet and spicy and a garlic lover’s dream. you can eat it with basically anything, but grilled chicken and smoked beef ribs are probably my favorite.

ingredients

2 c ketchup

1 c brown sugar

⅓ c honey

3 tbs apple cider vinegar

2 tbs worcestershire sauce

6 tbs fresh cruched garlic

1 tbs dried onion flakes

1 tbs garlic powder

1 tbs black pepper

3 tsp chili flakes

1 tsp kosher salt

½ tsp dry mustard

instructions

add all ingredients and ONLY half the garlic to a heavy saucepan, cook over medium heat.

bring to a boil and mix consistently so the sauce doesn’t burn.

once sauce is boiling, lower temperature to simmer. add remaining garlic and cook for about 15 minutes, continuing to stir often.

cool to room temperature and store in

a mason jar or airtight container in the refrigerator up to 3 months.
