a vanilla sheet cake is literally the classic of all cakes, she’s moist, fluffy, and easy to make at home.
and the best part about being an adult is realizing you don’t need a special occasion to eat cake. you can bake a cake just because you’re having a great week and want a piece of cake. or you can buy it, whatever floats your boat. but this recipe is most likely tastier and only takes about 20 minutes to bake.
so whether is someone’s birthday, you got a promotion or you just want a piece of cake, i hope you have just as much fun baking the this as you have eating it.

prepare a sheet pan, I’m using a 12x18 pan with non-stick spray, then line with parchment paper. preheat oven to 350°.
combine the flour, baking powder and salt in a medium sized bowl and set aside.
in a separate bowl mix together butter, sugar, about 3-4 minutes. add the eggs one at a time, mixing until mostly combined after each egg. add the dry ingredients to the batter and mix until mostly combined. slowly add the milk and vanilla extract and mix until well combined. don’t be alarmed if batter is a little thin.
pour and spread the batter evenly onto the prepared pan and bake for 15-18 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
remove the cake from the oven and allow to cool.
| frosting |
in a separate bowl combine sifted powdered sugar, milk, vanilla, and melted butter. Whisk until smooth. if your frosting is too runny add a bit more sifted sugar, and if it is too stiff add more milk.
pour over cake, spread the frosting evenly onto the cooled cake, then top with your favorite sprinkles and enjoy 😊 .
